"We LOVE your insurance!"
I went to the chiropractor today. Did something to my back yesterday. Much pain.

So I filled out all the paperwork and handed the receptionist my insurance card. She looked at it and said "Oh, we LOVE your insurance!" She said I had some great plan with unlimited visits that only cost me $30 each time. And oh I was so lucky.

So then the doctor took me back to his exam room and first thing he said was "Oh, we LOVE your insurance!" Then he explained what treatment he was recommending. (I think it's the Gold Plated Plan since I have such great insurance.) He didn't seem as excited about fixing my back as he was about my insurance.

I said "And why can't we have Single Payer health care in this country so no one has to worry about how they are going to pay you?"

The doctor said "Well that's what Obama wants, isn't it?"

I told him I didn't think so, at least that's not what we are getting.

And the doctor said "But you don't have to worry about that because you have such great insurance!"

Anyhow. Struck me as sad. This doctor's first priority was how I was going to pay him.

1. That's one of the prob's I have with chiropractors.
I'd consider finding another one who is more concerned with YOU and not so much with your insurance...

The problem here is that, instead of FIXING you, he will have you coming back again and again.

I've found that chiropractors really run the gamut, and you should look around for one who is good for you - they are NOT all the same.

6. Isn't that what all chiropractors do?
"fix" you so that you have to go back again and again and again.....

3. "I would like to make an appointment
to see the doctor."

"What kind of insurance do you have?"

"I don't have insurance, I will pay cash"

"I am sorry but you are going to have to contact a doctor that takes patients who do not have insurance."

4. I've never even entered any doctor's office without being asked
in advance about insurance. When I call in, that is question one. Getting paid is priority one for all of them.

5. Why are you going to a chiropractor?
Go see a doctor.

(I know that doesn't solve your insurance problem, but I thought I'd help.)

7. The only time a doctor means the words "I want to help you," is when you tell her or him
that you are having trouble getting your checkbook or credit card out.

13. My brother told me that after he had his wisdom teeth removed
his dentist gave him a generic prescription and they talked for awhile. When he mentioned where he worked the dentist asked for the prescription back, ripped it up, then wrote him one for Oxycontin and went on about how he liked his company. Around the same time one of my coworkers went to his doctor because he wasn't feeling well. She told him to stay home from work for a couple of days. When he mentioned where he worked she told him to take a minimum of one week off then lectured him on finding a new job.
