Let's really fix Shrub's ass
Let's send him a war funding bill that contains no pullout date. He says he'll veto any bill that contains a pullout date, so let's send him a bill that he says he will sign with great pleasure.

HOWEVER!

Let's slip a bigtime tax increase of some sort in there. You know, something most people won't pay, like an increase in the inheritance tax, a jump in the short-term capital gains tax or an increase in the top bracket to...oh, 40 percent.

And then we have the top dozen Democrats in the US standing by with their television suits ready to hit the airwaves to point out that they sent him exactly the kind of bill he asked for, and he vetoed it anyway.

1. I'd like to see the 'war funding' bill contain ELIMINATION of taxcuts........

2. This really isn't such a bad idea,...
--- Nor would be the elimination of the tax cuts for the wealthy,... as Double T suggests. In either case, it could logically be argued that the additional revenue was paired with the additional spending,.... a "war tax," if you will. It might even be a good opportunity to throw in a windfall profits tax for Big Oil.

4. Here's a good one
How about the Dem. include a regulation movement on the oil companies, with demands that they reverse these ridiculous prices raping this country back to prior KATRINA in 2006.

3. I wouldn't send him anything...
...he already has a bill that would fund his ego-war.

Let it rot on his desk while the punditocracy pisses and moans...

5. He can't "let it rot on his desk"
According to the Constitution (you know, that document which currently serves as very high quality toilet paper in our finest White Houses), three things can happen to a bill that is sent to the President for approval:

He can approve of the bill in its entirety by signing it and returning it to Congress.

He can object to the bill, veto it and append his objections to it.

Or he can sit on it for 10 days. If Congress is in session at the end of the period, the bill becomes law without his signature; if it has recessed, the bill dies.
