Is there a private charity to donate to women's health?
Edited on Sun Nov-08-09 05:12 PM by itsrobert
I don't know, is there a charity that covers women's health to include financing abortions?

Just trying to figure out what to do in case the Stupak part is left in the bill.

1. The charity option is the heart of Republican thinking so I'll assume you are kidding.

2. Why should women have to depend on charity to get health care?
And why should health care for anyone be privately controlled?

4. You are asking the wrong question at this time.
Realistically, the question is not why should this be privately controlled but how do we deal with the reality that now has to be a privately funded matter. I don't think this is that big a change. Women on Medicaid have had a lot of problems with this for a long time.

Can't you just beg for health care? (and shut up about it)

10. I will donate to Planned Parenthood
I believe I can do it at work thru the CFC. But I'm also curious if the Stupak Amendment can make donations to charities that may lead to abortion not tax deductible.

11. Did nobody care about this until today?
Most women can't get insurance-covered abortions now.

Everybody knows that, right?

13. That's most likely true
Not doubting you at all. I don't believe you can get an abortion using Tricare (military health care). And I doubt that there is many insurances that pay for abortion in the private sector.

16. Women in my town just got Planned Parenthood
We lost our county services about 5 years ago. All those years, women and teen-age girls didn't even have birth control help, let alone anybody to talk to about abortion.

And these people expect me to get riled up about abortion coverage that nobody even gets now? And then say *I* don't know how the real world works??

:argh:

20. 87% of current insurance policies cover abortion in all instances.
This amendment makes it illegal for those companies to continue doing so.

14. Planned parenthood is #1
in my book.
They see to women's health. They also believe that women know what is best for them.
Those idiots that harrass Planned parenthood clinics are making sure that many women do not have screening and treatment for infections, cancer etc. They also prevent women from learning about the birth control methods.
They do not turn people away because their income is too low.

21. I was wondering how we could start our own, nonprofit, insurance company.
I am way too dumb to figure it out, but wouldn't it be great to take big insurance's business away by offering affordable and reliable coverage with no profit motive? We could have our own network of clinics like Planned Parenthood and people might offset some of the cost of their policy by working for the organization. Power to the people!
