Why was the Kucinich amendment stripped out of the bill?
Because it was the part of the bill that didn't kiss private for profit insurance company ass.

1. Exactly. It would not have given the

gold mine to the insurance companies while giving the rest of us the shaft.

If one state would do it...well that might cause others to follow suit.

3. It would've allowed California to pass a single-payer health insurance bill.

California actually passed a single-payer bill through the state legislature. Governor Arnold vetoed the bill.

With the Kucinich Amendment stripped, California will now be saddled with a far more expensive, cumbersome answer to health insurance for all people, at a time when California's economy has been devastated by the Great Recession. It is a loss all Californians and all Americans in general should grieve. It is a shame.

4. Because it would have been demonized as interfering with people's individual insurance plans.
Which is what Obama has been trying to avoid from the start, for political reasons.

It was a good idea, but the contours of the health care debate make it probably unfeasible.

11. Just to ensure the proles have no place of refuge.
It is paramount that there be no options, no alternatives to The New Servitude. The sheeple must be kept in their rightful place.

That the flock is so happy with their brand new killing chute is irony on a scale rarely seen in modern life.
