13. Charge her more for everything, tampons, bras, women's clothing and shoes and purses
and hair cuts are more expensive, plus "beauty" treatments of the hair removal and nail taming kind and birth control. And abortions! And, often, raising unwanted children when there isn't access to abortion.

I'd argue we're all slaves to the corporatocracy, but women are certainly clinging to a lower wrung than men and this bill is the most blatant, shameless example of that in recent memory.

And I did say...it was jail!!!
I mean make the cage as golden as you want.. it's still a cage!

If you ge... sorry WHEN you get shiv'd in jail, you get fixed up.
when you get sick, you get meds
when you get brutally anally raped by that gorilla in cell block F, you pretty much are on your own.
Point being you get taken care of.

on the out side.. not so much.

Mind you I will take poverty, and dodging the flu on the OUTSIDE, and freeeeeee, over jail any day!

I was making a sardonic point, thank you very much.

26. I don't doubt that it's hell
it's just more than we get if we're unfortunate enough to get hurt or sick is all.

California has county care. each county decides if it wasn't to cover the poor or not.
I lived in a county that DID have this.

After I got a job I begged them to let me pay into it.

They said they can't... which is a pity because aside from waiting, it was great!

yeah.. glad to be on the outside for sure.

22. It's insane to me that any woman at all and any man who claims to be a progressive
would be okay with totally selling out half of the fucking country. All of your sisters, your female friends, girlfriends of future and past, your own mother, that anyone would not be willing to go to jail over equal rights for women. I get a monthly letter from a family member letting me know just how awful prison is and I think civil rights for women are worth that sacrifice.

I think this bill is shit!

I think what we are being forced into is nothing more than corporate slavery full on, out in the open, bend over and smile! BULLSHIT!

I think this is utter misogyny plain and simple.

TO make a woman pay more, to threaten to put people IN PRISON! TO FORCE you to STAY with your insurance, with NO OTHER RECOURSE, while being taxed.. that is insane!

We are all taking it, badly.

ium horrified, just horrified, that we were duped, that THEIR side won.. AGAIN!

48. It's curious. I wonder. Removal of tumor, yes. Reconstrunctive surgery, probably not.
Where does the hysterectomy stand?

49. Oh definitely! that way you can control those horrible "hysterical urges" women have
that's why it's called a hysterectomy!

Hysterical, comes from the name of a woman's genitals... talk about fucking sexist bullshit!

51. Getting serious again, this is a Civil Rights issue. And legislating bigotry is NOT OK.
And that's exactly what Stupak's amendment is: bigotry. It wouldn't be ok if the bill were passed with a single amendment refusing coverage to African Americans nor to people who have HIV nor to any of the myriad diseases which target specific ethnic groups more frequently or exclusively. This is bigotry; this bill makes hatred of a minority lawful and it's unacceptable. There is no place in a progressive society for a second class citizen. And, to make matters worse, this bill has not just outlined hatred for a minority group, but revoked their (our) previous status as full citizens. This is the biggest affront on civil rights in this country that I've seen in my lifetime. And it's a sad, sad day. If this is a health insurance bill for all Americans, then the health care needs of all Americans need to be covered. And this hateful amendment needs to be repealed.
