10. If every one always votes for the lesser of the two evils
Edited on Sun Nov-08-09 02:44 AM by truedelphi
If everyone always refuses to examine the best of choices before them, convinced that one must surrender before one has even started...

If everyone somehow believes it far better to "shut the F" up rather than to engage in real discussion

If everyone always mis-understands that the purpose of life is to put one's best ideas forward, and to support those who will help us do that,

Then we will indeed have Palin or Huckabee or some other goon.

38. It seems to me,
what I see is the "good" cop and "bad" cop scenario. Are we in our "good" cop mode now?

And I love the fearmongering. If you don't get behind candidate A, bad old loony candidate B is gonna win. And, unfortunately for us, that's about all we have is candidate A and B. But don't worry the MSM is right there to help you decide who you really want. I mean after a candidate spends millions for PR-as they help groom them-what's it gonna be? How about the good ol' boy cowboy, yeah that's the ticket. Now, just make that drawling a little twangier, buy that ranch and really give'em that "dumb as bricks", "I'm one of you" acts and it's in the bag. With the help with our talking heads, we can make that dirt on ya go away. We'll just have them repeat over and over again how the people just love to have a beer with you, not with that stiff necked other guy.

And, it works every time. So, excuse me if I don't fear. Studs Terkel once said that he still had faith in the American people. Sixty-two percent of the people are for the public option. How many people are against these costly, bloody wars? Let's face it, K street doesn't listen to us anymore, they listen to those with the most moolah, and it isn't us.

47. i am convince dthat Obama made a deal. SOemtime in Oct 2008? Right before they
Picked Palin to be McCain's VP.

I know many who were in the Republican party and stayed home election day because they would not vote Dem, but they hated PAlin.

As long as Obama does as they ask, he won't have to drive past Dealey Plaza, and he won't have to worry about any one but Palin in 2012. if he becomes someone actively for We the People, on issues from torture procsecutions, Doing the right thing about the economy abnd sacking Kissinger/Geithner? Bernanke/Goldman Sachs, also Telephone Spying, Health Care, and stopping the endles wars, the Powers that Be will actually have a Republican candidate supported by the Republicans come out and make 2012 a contest.

Currently few in America consider themselves to be Republican, and only 27% OF THEM like Sarah.

11. The Democratic Party isn't ENTITLED to my vote
If they want to be the Corporate-lite party, then yeah, you bet we're going to lose in 2010 and 2012.

And it wouldn't bother me that much.

You get the government you deserve. And as long as people who DEMAND real health reform settle for this shit, then you can expect a lot of disenchanted voters.

14. Palin will win the nomination thanks to people just like /you/
Some of your minds are so wrapped up in political ideology that you cannot see right vs. wrong, its always left vs. right. This is why incompetent buffoons like John McCain, George W. Bush and Sarah Palin can get elected because because people just like yourself refuse to question, evaluate and investigate who you're voting for.

DU:
Anything Democratic = Good
Anything Republican = Bad

FR:
Anything Republican = Good
Anything Democratic = Bad

When a large chunk of the voting public thinks this way everyone loses. Don't be a sheep, question what your "leaders" are doing.

44. actually, I thought that now days
it's more like the illogical, looney so far riiiiggghhht and the center right. Do you see any liberals in congress? I mean there is Bernie Sanders, but he's an acclaimed democratic socialist-not in the Democratic Party. There is Dennis Kucinich, but seeing all of these flame threads on him because he has read the bill and thinks he's doing the right thing-well, I guess he could be considered liberal since he has on more than one occasion gone against corporate interest. Well, I guess there are a few who could be considered liberals-but not very many.

25. Oh, my.
Well, the party itself is the lesser of two evils.

Dad always said, "They're all a bunch of crooks, but it seems like the little guy always does a little bit better when the Democrats are in office."

Now, this was back in the 60s, but not much has changed.

They ALL are so bought-and-paid for, so once you see that, you can try to get past the cynicism and get down to doing something productive. I doubt that leaving the Democratic Party will accomplish that. If Dad saw it more than 40 years ago and things haven't changed (in fact, have probably become much worse), then it's hard to see much hope for change now. Unless we can get real finance reform, nothing will change. Political ads on TV should be outlawed, as a beginning. How many billions are spent on campaigns every two years? That is money that could go toward actually accomplishing something productive. Instead, it is money that simply evaporates.

31. I left in 2004
after the DLC Dems shoved Kerry down our throats. Kerry, who then managed to lose to the worst. president. ever. Now THAT takes talent! I resigned all my Chairs (4) within the local Democratic Party, I resigned my Trusteeship to the party office and my membership to the California Democratic Party Executive Board. Up until then, I'd been a VERY active member of the Democratic Party since 1968. When you've put in 36 years of political activism, THEN you can tell me to "do something productive." And just for the record, I do plenty. Whoring for the Democratic Party just isn't one of them anymore. And, btw, voting for the lesser of two evils is still voting for evil. I choose not to settle for crumbs but work for REAL reform. Enjoy your crumbs.

maybe you meant the people who are all uppity about politicians writing laws that mandate payments to for-profit corporations are going to cost us the next election?

No matter, I'm sure it will be some group of liberals besides the politicians themselves and their shitty compromises that will get blamed.
