Which of the nays were from the left?
Here's a full list of the 39 Dems who voted Nay:

Adler (NJ)
Altmire
Baird
Barrow
Boccieri
Boren
Boucher
Boyd
Bright
Chandler
Childers
Davis (AL)
Davis (TN)
Edwards (TX)
Gordon (TN)
Griffith
Herseth Sandlin
Holden
Kissell

Kratovil
Kucinich - Frankly, I'm tired of his purity driven votes, but I'll give him a pass here.
Markey (CO)
Marshall
Massa
Matheson
McMahon
Melancon
Minnick
Murphy (NY)
Nye
Peterson
Ross
Shuler
Skelton
Tanner
Taylor
Teague

****

I know that Kucinich and, I think, Massa voted nay from the left. Who else did? Baird?

1. Baird? From the LEFT?

I'm laughing, but it's really not that funny. I seriously regret campaigning for that son of a bitch.

Why are you upset with him?

Are you going to donate to Melancon and the other Blue Dogs who voted the way you wanted them to?

12. Well, he's good on Israel-Palestine stuff
... which is something you can't say about too many Members of Congress.

I checked his website, and his "nay" vote has to do mostly with Medicare funding for his district. He seemed to give wiggle-room for supporting the final bill.

10. Don't know all the details of this BS healthcare bill yet but...
Edited on Sun Nov-08-09 12:29 AM by Crazy Dave
From what I've heard the current bill will only expand coverage to about 2% of Americans and it's going to be like the medicare prescription drug plan being privately run by our current insurance providers and that premiums for individuals with existing conditions will cost more.

Dennis Kucinich has always been for a single payer system and to keep government health care out of women's private parts.

15. Better than nothing and it's progress but we're we're so slow at these things...
...civil liberties, equal rights, gay rights, human rights, a job, etc.

Some day all Americans will have a right to these but it will only be when I'm 90 or so at the pace we are going.

Hopefully, and if we ever get better health care options where an insurance company doesn't decide to please it's shareholders one day instead of saving my life I may even live that long to see things things.

Anybody voting no on this was voting in favor of the status quo regardless of whatever excuse they offer.

Voting no on health care reform is the same as voting yes for the status quo.

I recognize some of the others as Blue Dogs and the ones I never heard of I assume are Blue Dogs. Usually when I see a congressman's name and think "who the hell is that?" it turns out to be a Blue Dog.

It's a part of western Pa, north of Pgh. I lived there for a lot of years and the people I still converse with all wanted this bill to pass. What the hell is he thinking?

9. Massa voted no from the left and right
DeFazio does that sometimes, so I recognize the maneuver.

He voted no because of insurance companies, but also because of right wing complaints like interstate insurance and costs and malpractice reform. Everybody's happy that way.
