| Let me tell you how much my Cigna insurance is... |

I recently got laid off, not due to down sizing or anything, it just that the job is done.
My insurance through my employer was very reasonable, not a concern at all; now that I am laid off it goes like this:
$76.96 a month for 6 months with employer subsidy and COBRA $388.93 a month after company subsidy has expired $1111.23 a month (full premium) after the nine month period has expired and will have to be paid to continue with COBRA..
So after the $76.96 a month period, there is no way in hell I could afford to pay for coverage..in short, I am fucked and those monthly premiums are unrealistic.

| 1. The amount of the subsidy is the key |
 |
Because if people are looking at hundreds of dollars a month they can't afford, even with a subsidy, they'll scream to repeal this before it ever gets going.

| 3. The House subsidies are very generous |

People will be delighted to have insurance at such reasonable amounts. The Senate bill, not so much.

and for some im sure it will give them cheaper insurance but what about people whos insurance goes up and then they find they have to pay or go to jail or get fined. I dont think this is going to be as clean as you think....

The HR rep sat me down to discuss COBRA with me. I don't recall the exact numbers, but the basic conversation can be summarized like this:
"If you qualify for unemployment, you'll be making about half of what you do now. And COBRA will cover you and your family for about four times what you're paying for insurance now."
So, as you indirectly note, it's no kind of insurance at all. Anyone who can afford COBRA can probably afford to pay for their healthcare directly, without worrying about insurance or pesky stuff like that.

is $705.00 per month for Aetna. I qualify for the ARRA subsidy due to the time frame in which I was laid off and will only have to pay $250.00 for the next 9 months; after that,if I don't have a new job, I am screwed. With hypertension, thyroid issues, and fibromyalgia...no private health policy for me.
