Where did Wall Street get its name?
The link is to a site that cites one answer. There are other site that have other answers. I like this one best. It is in the upper left box when you get to the link.

Cook site - they started with a British Revolutionary Way map that detailed the terrain, extrapolated back to 1609 when the island was first settled by whites, and have reconstructed what the habitat, flora and fauna might have been like. Each micro-habitat is correlated with a modern block of the city.
