| Where was Secretary of Defense Gates ?? |

When the guy was murdering those soldiers at Fort Hood? Isn't he in charge of all the military forces? Did he ever make a statement? I did not see it. If not, why not?

| 1. kentuck, I don't have teevee right now. |
 |
Is the media going with "Muslin jihadi" over "WTF is wrong with mental health units in our military"?
I don't mean to hijack but if you get a chance, tia.

| 8. If I were in the military I'd want to knock Roger Ailes out. |
 |
And then revive him so I could choke him out . Then revive him so I could kick the squeal out of him.

| 2. Have SecDefs EVER made a statement in those situations? |
 |
I don't know, I'm asking. Don't they usually defer to either the commander in chief or the base commander?

| 6. The chain of command... |
 |
would dictate that the Sec of Defense would comment before the Commander in Chief.

| 7. but if it's a major event that has national security implications |
 |
or is simply a mass casulty event, it's better that the Commander in Chief makes the statement to calm the nation and all that jazz.

Would weigh in first. Why would gates, far removed from Fort Hood start making statements until he knew all of the facts? That is if he wanted to make a statement. You ask a silly question.
