ORLANDO, FL --Police have surrounded a downtown Orlando high-rise after gun shots were fired.

WESH TV, The NBC affiliate in Orlando, says rescue crews were called to the 16 story Gateway Center at 1000 Legion Place around 11:30 a.m.

A fire department spokeswoman said there were 7 gunshot victims who were transported in critical condition and another who had a heart attack. Shots were reportedly fired from the 8th floor.

WESH TV reports at least one fatality, but that has not been confirmed. The Orlando Sentinel reports two fatalities.

The gunman, who may be wearing a light blue polo shirt and jeans, was not in custody as of 1:00 p.m. Officers are involved in a floor-by-floor evacuation. The Orlando SWAT team is on scene.

Ambulances and dozens of police cars and fire engines have arrived at the scene.

9. Gunman shot victims on two separate floors

sounds more like a disgruntled worker, had specific victims. Earlier they gave a description of his car and lic number. They claim the building has an extensive video system. Police are still sweeping the 16 story building for victims.

10. Jason Rodriguez, 40,

was identified as the possible suspect. He is believed to be driving a 2002 silver Nissan SUV with Florida tag D119UX and is reportedly a former employee at the building.
