What is the fucking problem with these people? Wake-up and step in the REAL WORLD !
Edited on Thu Nov-05-09 03:53 PM by Blue_Roses
I'm so sick of this shit! Meanwhile, in the REAL world, I hold my breath that my kids--who no longer qualify for CHIPS and have no healthcare because my spouse's insurance premiums are TOO DAMN EXPENSIVE--don't get sick. They already take meds for ADHD and because of this fiasco, we are paying out of pocket--thankfully for generic meds, no less--and it's literally wiping us out. :argh:

I just don't get it. We've had private insurance and we've had CHIPS. With private the whole family was covered (this was 5 years ago) but with CHIPS, only the kids were covered. We paid a reasonable annual premium with both,a co-pay for Rx's and doctor visits with both. Of course CHIPS was much cheaper than private insurance, but still my kids received quality care. My husband made a small percentage over the acceptable amount (it wasn't enough to fill the tank with gas :eyes:) and they kicked my kids out of the program. The WORST part of that was that 6 months later (this summer) my husband's company started laying off and cutting back hours. He was spared because of his seniority, but still lost lots of hours, affecting us financially. He had to apply for unemployment "reduced hours" to help make ends meet (still didn't).

And then we have these idiots! :argh: There are no words to explain this lunacy. :argh:

WASHINGTON - Chanting "Kill the bill," thousands of conservatives rallied at the Capitol on Thursday against the Democrats' health care overhaul plan.

The campaign-style event kicked off a daylong, Republican protest against the legislation.

"This bill is the greatest threat to freedom that I have seen," House Republican leader John Boehner of Ohio told the crowd gathered on the lawn near the West Front of the Capitol
Said Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa: "We're not going to leave this Hill until we kill this bill."

Among the signs in the crowd was one reading, "Waterboard Congress," and another saying, "Vote no to government-run health care." The crowd included a significant number of older Americans.

Some conservatives oppose increased government involvement as the first step on a slippery slope to "socialized" medicine, a term they use to denigrate other countries' health care systems, and insist on rugged American individualism, in which people should be responsible for their own health care.

In addition, millions of Americans get health care from their employers and are reluctant to see any tinkering with that system

1. One simple solution.
Wean them off ADHD meds. They're bad and dangerous..
and by the way, there is really no such thing as
ADHD.

You should do some research.

5. first of all,
Edited on Thu Nov-05-09 03:57 PM by Blue_Roses
there is a "such thing as ADHD" and they don't need to be "weaned off the meds"...

Secondly, you don't know me or how active I am in the research and advocacy of ADHD. I have it as well as my spouse. YOU should educate yourself before passing your uninformed JUDGEMENT.

Lastly, this thread is NOT about ADHD. It's about healthcare. Nice diversion there... :eyes:

14. If I wanted to spend the time
I could post just as many links for Doctors that do not believe it is real. The debate is far from over. But on the issue of healthcare you are correct we can do better.

3. Yes there is. If anyone bothered to interview some of these people, they would find many of them
do not understand the "Bill" nor how government works and a host of other issues including basic overall anger about just about everything. I believe the majority are Republicans and so-called Independents (who almost always vote Republican). I think the Media is not getting it at all. They always interview "spokespeople" and no one does an "extensive" look into the actual "type" of people that are "baggers".

I am a retired school social worker with a graduate degree. ADD and ADHD are very real. I spent over 30 years working with kids who have problems and and their families. I've probably done thousands of classroom observations. I've had cases where the kids ask their parents for their medication because even they realize that finally they can pay attention and succeed and get good grades. Some kids experience success for the first time in their lives and begin to feel good about themselves. Do not let the clueless jerks get to you. Very few parents put their kids on meds without long and careful consideration. Applaud yourself for making the hard decisions to do what is right for your children. My best wishes to you.

13. Both Dem citizens as well as Our Government need to step up to the plate. The
Administration's failure to explain in simple and detailed terms of what is going on to the public and in public announcements, and the intellectual parsing of the situation by Dems (so as not to show up or speak up) bolsters the baggers garbage. I think the media should point out how f********** belligerent these people are. Just because you are loud, have your facts wrong and threaten violence and name calling, should NOT give you a forum on an issue. It should give you bad publicity.

11. What's wrong with this country I'll tell you
Nutso's like the ones in DC are making themselves known and people are starting these rabid groups represent the real America.

We have dozens of democratic and liberal blogs and websites. Why in the hell can't someone organize the people and us march on DC for a change. Let us get in front of the TV camera and MAKE THE MSM LET US TALK. A few right wing conservative bunch of crap are taking over and we are letting them.

Instead of constantly sending emails asking for money why in the devil don't these sites organize. We have to fight for what we want. If we had everyone converged on DC and let them know we are the people they would vote for the damn bill and get it over.

We should all go into the offices of people like Bachman, Boehner, McConnell, Kyl, Coburn and tell them to shut the Hades up. We are sick and tired and not going to take it any more. We would not have to threaten violence like the right wing followers of Beck and Rush and Fox do. We are peaceful and we too can stare lawmakers down..give em the silent treatment. But let em know OUR numbers are the ones that count.

16. We do, we have, but you'd never know it because
when thousands of us go to DC the MSN acts as if it never happened. But if 3 whackos show up with signs in downtown Buttfuck, Nebraska, it's the top news story.

18. k&r.
When it comes to health care, the cheese stands alone. Of all the industrialized nations in the world, we have to play these games with hideously powerful corporate interests and the immoral idiots who are manipulated by them.

Every politician blocking this has to be removed from office. It has to be done. We have to work to vote them out.

We have to get control of the corporate control of our nation.
