for these latest elections.
Somehow
I think that when the elections are more national, there will be greater turnout.

The canary's lesson is that EVERYONE needs to vote... no matter how insignificant the election seems.

2. Yep. I saw a post comparing how many votes were cast last year in NJ vs how many were

cast yesterday. Way too many people stayed home.
they are saying it was the young and the minorities that were inspired by Obama last year and did not vote this year....not sure if that is the truth..but it is true that not enough votes were cast.

3. I tried to get them fired up in Asbury and Long Branch
it didn't work. I street canvassed Friday, Saturday, Monday, and Tuesday. Placed Corzine posters on all the telephone poles, etc.

They would come out for the right candidate. I am sure if Cory Booker was on the ticket they'd come out.

4. "They would come out for the right candidate." Damn Straight!
I think what many of us are learning from Tues. was the fact that when Dems run as "moderates" or "conservatives," they sound no different than the Reps. This discourages those liberal voters from even making an effort to vote, and disenfranchises the entire left spectrum of the nation. Why bother voting if they both sound the same, if they're both corporate whores, and if neither one is looking out for We the People?

I can only hope this '09 election is another wake-up call to folks like Obama and the other representatives who made it to office off the time, money and hard work provided by those of us who proudly call ourselves Liberals.

5. I just commented in my blog about this
you gotta preach to the choir first, and if you're successful, they will sing. Jon Corzine could not get the base fired up and as a result lost the election. John McCain last year could not get the base fired up until he brought Sarah Palin on board.
