Apartheid.

One set of rights for one group.

Another set of rights for another group.

That's apartheid. The dictionary definition, in fact.

Period.

End of file.

2. Very disapointed by the outcome of Maine's vote!
I was really hoping that we, as a society were finally growing up! That we were finally willing to recognize that the value of someone, the value of a relationship shouldn't be restricted to a few square inches in the "genitalia" area!

But religion is still too involved in political life!
I am an heterosexual woman, married 38 years. . .but I wholeheartedly suppor the continued struggle of the gay community to achieve equal rights.

Don't lose your spirit, don't lose hope! The time will come. . .and I sure hope to still be alive when it does!

One word.

Separate but equal.

Three words describing civil unions.

We can't even have that in most states.

4. K&R. I agree, and I would also recommend "unconstitutional"...
Denying one group of Americans rights which are granted to other Americans under the Constitution and the laws of the United States.

9. Normally I agree with you, but there has to be a better word for this situation.
It's ridiculous, insane and unjust.

It is completely stupid for anyone to think their neighbors don't deserve equality.
Or their own family members.

Like Cheney.
