Plenty of blame to go around. My boyfriend at the time was Iranian and furious about the kidnappings--but do you think anyone took the time to find out how he felt about things?

Clue; no, they just hated on him. He left for Europe and I never heard from him again.

No, it doesn't excuse taking hostages like they did, or the Ayatollah's violent repression of leftists to consolidate power, but there's a reason so many Iranians were pissed off.
