Big money politics wins again. Blech!

Mayor Bloomberg deserves congratulations on his victory over William Thompson.

But Bloomberg spent an obscene amount of money, estimated at $100 million, to defeat his Democratic opponent. He doesn’t deserve congratulations for that.

The mayor outspent Thompson by an estimated 16-to-1. It was not a level playing field. The billionaire mayor knows it -- and the people of New York know it. It was the most expensive, self-financed campaign in American history -- and the mayor is guilty of distorting the meaning of fair play and democracy.

Bloomberg promised that, in his new term, New York would climb out of the recession faster than any other city. He also pledged to outperform the rest of the country in areas of job creation, safety, and education.

3. Even tho this is a mayor seat
it is a perfect example why there should be term limits on everything position. They say VOTE EM OUT. OK how can a person compete with those kind of odds. Those in office have an advantage to start with and when they have gobs and gobs of lobbyist money it is hard for an outsider to unseat them. If you have term limits most of the lobbying would take care of itself. Because the lobbyist wouldn't have someone to funnel money to, because they don't have a seat yet. Outlawing lobbying would be a good idea also, but CONGRESS AND THE REST must have term limits. If they limit the most important position in this country, President, to term limits why in the devil can't they limit other politic ans. Virginia by the way limits their governors to one term.

4. If Dems like President Obama had gotten behind Thompson he would have won.
Given how big of a Democratic city NYC is it's silly that we don't have a real Democratic Mayor.

5. This guy was my hero when he called himself a Democrat.
Now, when he does the same things that I used to admire, I just think it's wrong!
