VA did not have a strong candidate for the democratic ticket and NJ is just a fucked up state - let the republicans have 4 years of fucking it up too. In 4 years those states will both be blue again. Hopefully we can hold off those states for any real damage over the next 4 years - I know in NJ they can.

This is about the craziest of crazy right-wing nut jobs who thought they could play a powertrip and go into NY-23 and pick their own NON-party candidate and somehow make this person the next shining star of the conservative movement. Palin, Limbaugh and all those nutties tried to throw their weight around in the GOP and force the party to go uber-conservative.

Tonight they lost.

And they lost in a district that shouldn't have gone democrat. This was a safe win for the republicans IF they had a candidate running. But instead these right-wing idiots forced out the only republican on the ticket because the republican was 'too-moderate' for their tastes.

The real referendum was in NY-23 and the republicans lost HUGE!

Edit note: I know many wonderful people from the state of NJ. But with the state stuck between 2 of the largest metro areas in the country (NYC and Philadelphia) the cost of living is just horrible. Only state worse is California. Christie thinks he's going to figure out property taxes? Hell if it was that easy it would have been figured out about 10-12 terms ago.

1. As bad as NY-23 was, CA-10 was worse for them.
CA-10 was held by a centrist Dem. Tonight that seat belongs to a real progressive...someone who ran on a single payer public health plan...I think this area is pretty moderate, so this news may be even worse for the GOP.
