What Happened ? !Updated at 10:48 AM
The entire right-wing establishment threw themselves behind the "conservative" candidate in District 23 and he may lose? What happened? Limbaugh, the "tea-baggers", even the esteemed Governor Palin through their support behind the "conservative" candidate and look how close it is? It may come down to a couple of thousand absentee votes. Yet, look how close! This was the race the most rabid, blood-dripping-from-the-corners-of-their-mouths windbags invested in very heavily. What is the message they should take from this race? Hell! The Democrat might win this race! :-)

1. Not all the people in NY-23 were not THAT conservative. The guy who resigned,
John M. McHugh, was not a teabagger type. He is moderate to conservative but not ultra conservative. This could be a misread by some Rethug bigwigs.

But that would mean that they do not know their constituency very well?

"Is you is or is you ain't..." :-)

they could start a good old-fashioned, shouting, foot-stomping revival. And Rush could vote himself the leader of the national Republican Party. I wonder if there is any similarity to the disintegration of the Whig Party? :-)

The governorships means nothing. We won those during the Bush years too. THIS means something.

5. The problem with the Repukes is that they treat Republicans from ALL regions of the country
the same. There are still some center-right and even some progressive Republicans in the northeast. The Repukes haven't drummed out all the liberals and moderates yet. When they threw their candidate under the bus, she threw her weight to the Democrat. She knows her constituency well, unlike the so-called conservative Hoffman, who I understand is not even well versed in the policy issues of that particular district.
