Boehner Says There Are "No Excuses" To Delay Sending More Troops To Afghanistan

(RTTNews) - Following the announcement that Afghanistan has called off its planned run-off election, Republican House Leader John Boehner issued a statement Monday in which he said the Obama administration has "no more excuses" to delay sending additional troops to Afghanistan.

"Now that it is clear that President (Hamid) Karzai will remain in office, the White House has no further pretext for delaying the decision on giving General McChrystal the resources he needs to achieve our goals in Afghanistan," Boehner said in his statement.

He added, "General McChrystal has been clear: without timely reinforcements our efforts to deny al Qaeda and the Taliban a safe haven in Afghanistan may well end in failure."

President Barack Obama has been mulling sending an additional 40,000 (or more) U.S. troops to Afghanistan, but he has suggested he may wait for Afghanistan's run-off election to make his final decision.

without coming up with a new plan, strategy, etc! Sure, there's more *strength* in numbers but that doesn't mean a lot in and of itself if you don't have a good plan/strategy for how to best utilize them. Thank G-D we have a President willing to "dither" a little bit and come up with some new ideas. Maybe if Bush had "dithered" more before committing ourselves to an invasion/occupation of another country (Iraq), maybe so many people, Americans and Iraqis, wouldn't have needlessly lost their lives. And then, when things got really bad in Iraq for us, Bush then "dithered" for approximately 2-3 years before "rethinking" our strategy there out of his fear of not looking "resolute" or "admitting a mistake". Oh, and when was Bohner worried about Afghanistan while we turned our attention away from there and began focusing (wrongly) on Iraq? Hmmmmm...........Do you suppose that he's only worried about Afghanistan now that a Democrat is POTUS? Nah, that couldn't be it............

My thought is that Boner and some republicans know that Afghanistan is no win project and wants Obama to
commit to a large force because when it gores bad "they" can blame Obama and the Democrats ..... bush blew our window
of opportunity in 2001 / 2003 by jumping to Iraq and now the Afghani people see us as an outside force there to control
the country and every new death just adds to the fact that we are in a no win hell hole. These fuckers are wiling to see
more Americans die to get back into power.
