Have some fun. Take the steps instead of an escalator.
”Take the stairs instead of the escalator or elevator and feel better” is something we often hear or read in the Sunday papers. Few people actually follow that advice. Can we get more people to take the stairs over the escalator by making it fun to do? See the results here

2. Very cool!
No way you could do it here, though. Too many lawsuits over people knocking each other down while leaping from note to note.

3. amusing. give it a few months and see if people continue...
novelty is pleasurable. routine is drudgery. after a few weeks commuting i wouldn't even mentally register the stairs being there.

4. i take the stairs when possible. hard with a stroller though. just like i park
way back in the parking lot and walk up to the store.... i had to stop doing that towards the end of my pregnancy. Now, weather permitting i have begun doing that again. I have a tiny baby, so if it's raining I don't really park far away.... I do the best I can.

14. not in most places in america...
where people tend not to walk up them, nor leave room for those that want to, and in fact can get downright hostile about people trying to walk up the escalator that they apparently view as some kind of carnival ride.

7. Because I'm a runner, my hamstrings are often too tight to do that! Ironic, eh?

13. americans do NOT know how to use escalators.
they think that it's some kind of a ride.

most places in the civilized world, people stand on the left on escalators, to allow people to walk up the moving stairs on the right side.

not in the good ol' usa, where people get all bent out of shape, should someone have the audacity to actually want to walk up the moving stairs, and use them as intended.

although- it doesn't really help that so many americans are such hugh lardasses, that they fill up the entire step with their gigantor girth. maybe if they figured out that you don't have to park yourself like a blob, and that you can actually walk up/down the moving escalator, they could work off some of the tonnage.

and don't get me started on the morans that bring their child-laden strollers onto escalators...:grr:
