Poppy Bush talked trash about a sitting U.S. President to a Soviet leader. Let's convict the fucker.

Vice President George H. W. Bush confided in Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev that he believed Ronald Reagan was an "extreme conservative" supported by "blockheads and dummies," the former Soviet leader claims.

"In 1987, after my first visit to the United States, Vice President Bush accompanied me to the airport, and told me: 'Reagan is a conservative. An extreme conservative. All the blockheads and dummies are for him, and when he says that something is necessary, they trust him. But if some Democrat had proposed what Reagan did, with you, they might not have trusted him,'" Gorbachev said in an interview with The Nation.

Gorbachev added that he had been informed that, following their first summit in 1985, Reagan reportedly described his Soviet counterpart as a "die-hard Bolshevik" -- this despite the fact that Gorbachev would soon come to be known as a reformer who opened up the Soviet Union politically and ushered in an era of co-operation between east and west.

It's no surprise that there were tensions between Reagan and the elder Bush. In 1980, the two politicians ran aggressive campaign against each other to secure the Republican nomination for president. During that campaign, Bush famously described Reagan's economic policies as "voodoo economics." Many historians believe Reagan picked Bush as his running mate after the primaries because of Bush's popularity with some segments of the Republican electorate.

1. Poppy could have said the same thing about Shrub--blockheads and dummies loved him too! There was
never any love lost between Poppy and Bar and the Reagans. For the entire eight years of Reagan's presidency, Poppy and Bar were never invited to dinner at the WH, unless it was a state affair.

2. There is an old story...
about the Soviet citizen who shouted out "Brezhnev is a fool!" and was sentenced to five years in prison: one year for sedition, and four years for betraying a state secret.

I really don't think that it was a state secret that 'Ronald Reagan was an "extreme conservative" supported by "blockheads and dummies". Everyone in Britain knew it very well (well, everyone but Maggie); and I'm sure that Soviet intelligence had discovered this amazing fact as well.

AKA The Dixie Chicks Principle.

It's FINE to be talking trash about "The Gipper" and his mindless followers to the Soviet Leader *IF* you're still in the United States.

edited so you can understand it.

4. Reagan was a stupid fuck. blockheads and dummies are still his acolytes
no matter that he had to alter his own economic policies because they were so bad. that blockhead Bush Jr. got in office and created negative job growth and a huge deficit because he was too stupid to know that Reagan had to change his own policy but just pretended he didn't.

I'm so sick of republicans. go find some other nation to fuck up. (sorry, other nations, I take that back. you don't deserve to have to deal with them either.)

5. I still can't get over his comment
calling Olbermann and Maddow "sick puppies" when he has been associated with the two "dirty dogs" bush and cheney.

6. sounds to me like he was trash talking reagan's supporters, not reagan himself.
reagan described himself as a conservative. the use of the word "extreme" hardly constitutes talking trash.

7. The use of "extreme" with political views usually has negative connotations
If Daddy bu$h had wanted to praise Reagan's views, he could have used a more positive adjective like "solid" or "dedicated". Also, when you deride someone's supporters as "blockheads", that is usually construed as an indirect insult to the person they are supporting.
