Remember how I lost the chance to be Vice President of my union local about a month ago? Three names on the ballot. None got a simple majority of the vote. That election went in this order. 63-61-59. I lost two votes short of second place for the run off.
Fast forward to this past Tuesday. In the run off election the vote was 83 to 81. The 83 vote getter was announced as the winner. OOPS! Four votes invalidated for not following the rules printed on the ballot. Now it gets dicey. I pointed out to the losing candidate that the winner didn't have a simple majority of ALL the ballots cast as is outlined in the national union rules.
The finale count following the rules could overturn the results, end in a tie, of confirm the winner. Stay tuned. I've stood up for the written rules. Many people think I'm pulling a fast one. I'm not. I just want the written rules to be followed to the letter. After I pointed out a second rule that was not followed, the candidate in second place will probably loose. But I made the local follow the written rule.
EVERY VOTE COUNTS!!!
