Problems With Windows Programs
I think just about everybody at DU and in America are aware that Windows 7 came out last week. It seems that the Windows operating system has problems every year or at least everytime a new version is released. Does anybody know why the system seems to have problems each time it is released in a new form? In addition, is there a reason that noone has been able to come out with a better operating system for PCs? I know that some people tink the MAC system is a better operating system, but as my previous sentence states I am interested in know why noone has come out with a better operating system for PCs. I think MACs are different than PCs. Is it that companies are not willing to take a risk to find out if another operating system works better for PCs than Windows, or is Microsoft stopping any competition from rising?

5. You will be receiving recommendations soon for other operating systems for PCs. I hope those
recommending will state the tecnnical qualificatons needed to use them and what it takes on an ongoing basis - combatabilities-incompatabilities.

7. Apple has an ad that addresses "Problem it fixes." Think of Charlie Brown,
Lucy, and a football.

9. If you want to spend more time working on your OS than using it...you could always try Linux.

12. I've been able to live well without Windows. All other OS's are UNIX or Linux
based. I like how they do things. I like being able to drop into the terminal to do system maintenance or write a bash script. I like all the free software. When Leopard killed Photoshop7, I went with GIMP. I find it acceptable for photo editing. I love Inkscape for SVG. Like other UNIX OS's, OSX includes Python, Perl, Ruby, Awk, and other languages.

If you are a hard core gamer, I guess Windows or a game console is what you need.

13. "Embrace, Enhance, Extinguish"
It's a sad and interesting story.
It all goes back to the original IBM PC.
Instead of using CP/M from Digital Research,
IBM asked Microsoft to write an operating system.
Microsoft wasn't able to, so they bought a clone of CP/M called "QDOS",
which stood for "Quick and Dirty Operating System".
And that's been Microsoft's business model ever since.
See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Kildall
and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/86-DOS

There have been many operating systems much better than Windows,
but Microsoft would buy the major applications and modify them so they only worked under Windows,
and wouldn't work under the competitors operating systems.
If an application company didn't want to sell at the price Microsoft wanted,
Microsoft would buy a competitor or clone product,
and the company would not be able to compete.
This is called "Embrace, Enhance, Extinguish"

14. What?
"Does anybody know why the system seems to have problems each time it is released in a new form?"
Are you serious?

The rest of your post is no better. I suggest you go out and do some reading rather than asking for a spoon feeding.
