I just busted an anti-"Cap and Trade" group for violating a Walt Disney copyright

here's their homepage--note the image to the right.

I'm sure Big Mouse will be having a word with them.

here's the message I sent to Disney:

"I wanted to alert you to a flagrant violation of one of your copyrights. There is a group called "Miinnesotans for Global Warming(here's a link to their homepage)that has a "No Cap'n Trade" link on their page). The link uses an image of Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow. Knowing your company's reputation for zealous protection of copyright, I assume you'll want to do something about this."

Serves the corporate toadies right to have to fight ANOTHER corporation's legal division.

This obviously won't make any difference. If Disney objects, the site will pull the graphic and the story ends there, one minute into this supposedly brilliant harrassment. The manner of the harrassment is completely irrelevant to the issues at hand. And your bragging about it like it's a big deal is funny.

Well, maybe you'll learn something. Otherwise I'm wasting my time, and the joke's on me.

it's also ridiculously petty.

the proper response to bad speech, iow ideas you disagree with, is robust debate - iow good speech.

it is not tattling on them for some minor technical offense.

it's just mind bogglingly immature in my opinion, from the neener neener school of debate.

I'm not really boosting Disney. They don't gain anything from this.

6. Why are you in favor of cap and trade?
If you're looking for new ways to get money into the hands of commodities traders then it's an excellent plan. Otherwise, there are better ways to lower our emissions that don't involve yet another massive transfer of wealth to the top 1%.
