Would YOU be happy if a repuke family member won a Mayoral Race?
A family member of mine, a repuke, just won the Mayoral Race in a suburb of Chicago (well, right now he has 70.something% & his opponent has 20.something) Looks like he's got it sewn up..... He has political aspirations and I can see him running for the state legislature (he's already been asked to do that :(), winning and moving up to U.S. Congress and I just cannot be happy about it.

Would YOU be happy if one of your repuke family members won an election like this? I know Mayoral races aren't really Dem/repuke, but I KNOW his politics and I KNOW where he's headed. This is NOT good.:( He supports everything I DETEST.

1. Nope, would not be happy....
do NOT feel bad about the way you feel. I live in the so suburbs of Chicago, in a village a few miles west of the Illinois/Indiana border and our mayor is an arrogant jerk. A customer of mine is a cousin of the mayor and my customer hates his cousin.

4. This village is full of 'wealthy' people. I KNEW he would win. It makes me sick.
It really sucks. He's a CORPORATE ATTORNEY....:puke: He defends CORPORATIONS! *sigh*

3. Around here
any Republican who could win an office, even a local one, would be far more liberal than a lot of the Democrats floating around the midwest.

But local politics are a lot different than national politics. Good luck running for Congress as a Repuke the next few years. If it's a close race, he'll probably lose. If it's a safe seat, then it is what it is.

6. I really don't know who his Congressman or state legislators are.
I would guess they're repukes though. Going by the 'burb he lives in. I just hope there's a REVOLT against ALL repukes for the next 20 freakin' years!

9. I used to live
in a Chicago suburb. Pretty Republican territory. But the times they are a changing. Tammy Duckworth lost but only by a couple of percentage points in a district (my old one) that at any other time it would not have ever even been close. It's a good time to be a Democrat. :-)

7. We had family members that fought on different sides of the Civil War.
Germany had families that supported Hitler and some that were in the Resistance.

What do you think? Where and when does one make a stand?

8. Not at all! You don't have to feel guilty at all about not being happy about this.

he's a burning Liberal....I wouldn't have married him if he wasn't!

13. I could never have a relationship with anyone who wasn't a burning Liberal. Every now and
then some will post that they are having problems with a Wrongwing significant other and it boggles my mind. How can one have a meaningful relationship with someone whose Values are so diametrically opposed?

14. I have no clue how they live with people who support everything BAD in this country.
I can barely bring myself to stay in a room with a repuke or be half-way civil to them....let alone marry one!

10. well, i live in a suburb out of chicago and there were two guys running
for mayor (both republics)

i didn't vote for either of them.

i have decided NEVER to vote for a republic even in a local election where they don't have to declare their party. (i called the board of elections & found out what party some of the other people running belonged to--and i just can't bring myself to vote for a republic no matter what.)
