Feingold: "Public Option is key to ensuring every American is able to afford health insurance"
t By Mike Lillis 9/29/09 6:08 PM

Its only been a few hours since the Senate Finance Committee killed two separate proposals to create a public insurance plan as part of the years health reforms. But some Democrats are already vowing to take up the fight again when the bill hits the Senate floor. Heres the newly released statement from Sen. Russ Feingold (D-Wis.):

***** I am disappointed the Senate Finance Committee rejected amendments offered by Senator Rockefeller and Senator Schumer to include a public health insurance option in its health care reform legislation. I have strongly supported a public health insurance option from the start as a way to increase competition in the health care industry and drive down costs. A public health insurance option is key to ensuring every American is able to afford health insurance and without it, I dont see how we will bring real reform to the system. I will continue to work with my colleagues to include a public option in the bill when it comes to the Senate floor.

2. Heaven forbid we are clear about that.
If they're clear about it, they can't redefine the words to suit the action.

Universal = encompassing all of a small body within a larger group

Affordable = as long as it protects the profits of the insurance companies because the free-market is fundamental to American democracy
