Why not?

With these results, it is safe to say most Americans support medical marijuana. Do most politicians? I think Gov. Richardson in NM made some steps toward decriminalizing medical marijuana, and the Obama administration has as well. But who are the politicians who support full legalization? If we are truly being represented, about 45% of congress and the senate should support it.

1. NM now has a medical pot program in place
that covers everything from growing to distribution. It's still a very small program, though, so I'm waiting for it to get bigger before I apply.

I think local governments will simply start to decriminalize possession, period, and quite possibly sale of small amounts, under a couple of ounces. Doing so will take a lot of pressure off law enforcement and they can start concentrating on real bad guys.

Once that happens, the whole thing will just start to be ignored to death like a lot of the other stupid laws on the books covering playing fiddles on Sunday and where to graze sheep in the city.

5. I'm diving in, in Colorado
Because as of this week it's now 100% legal, both State and Federal to grow medical cannabis. I've spent 15 years planning and dreaming about this eventuality. I'm very good at it, so why not dive in?

One thing is certain, I'm no longer afraid!

2. Actually when the question is about medical MJ the numbers jump to 65+% support
45% support for general legalization is a very significant number.

Reefer madness is finally dying, probably because the suckers who believed it are also dying.

3. Man what was with that long stretch from about 1980-2000
Is this all the effect of old people dying, or are people suddenly changing their minds after two decades?

I wouldn't be surprised if it was the latter though. American group consciousness is a sluggish and inconsistent beast.

4. Why is it 0 % of those who sit on juries feel that way?
The War against marijuana/cannabis/hemp would grind to a complete halt in a fortnight if the useless bags of protoplasm who make up our juries would simply refuse to indict or convict people for simple possession, use or "manufacturing".
