Homeless man returns money found in East Lansing
Homeless man returns money found in East Lansing

EAST LANSING -- He is simply known as "John," among officers with the East Lansing Police Department.

He is a homeless man often seen in the city. Police say "John" could have kept a large amount of cash he found Monday near Parking Lot 1 in the city's business district, but he didn't.

Instead he turned the money into the East Lansing Police department, according to East Lansing police Capt. Tom Johnstone.

Anyone who lost a large amount of money is asked to contact the Police Department at 351-4220 and provide detailed information that will allow it to returned.

2. Sure would. Or if that person were in a position to say
"You know, I really don't need this money. I appreciate John finding it, but I think he could put it to better use than I could. Thanks, John--it's yours."

At the very least, I hope he gets some kind of reward.

The man is homeless, but in honesty and integrity, he's a wealthy man indeed. I'd love to see someone read this story and offer him a job and a home.
