1. What I want to know is why is he the only one who
had to have notes to express 'his deepest sympathies and condolences?'

What a sick excuse for whatever species he belongs to.

in approval (until the next scandal/disaster/atrocity).

4. I would not take that bet
I seriously think people are sick of him, even in a crisis. His crocodile tears are apparent to a whole new segment of America now. At least I hope so.

10. I hope
you're right.

I thought his speech was reasonable and seemed sincere in the context it was given...

however in the context of the deaths he has directly caused (through his war of choice on Iraq) and indirectly through negligence (9/11, Katrina etc) then yes his sympathy doesn't really ring true.

5. Suprisingly, I'm giving Bush a pass on this.
What's he going to do, not go to the site of a huge national tragedy and make a speech?

Mostly, though, I don't feel like tying him into all of this mess. We've got enough to be angry with him about--no need to overdo it.

except that his spokesperson threw a sop to the gun lobby before officially extending his condolances!

25. Maybe some of us are in shock because he actually attended a
memorial. Actually showed up, and it wasn't even for some famous person. He probably will get a small bump in the polls. Small, and temporary. People forget this stuff, too. Next week it'll be back to Anna Nicole Smith's baby and maybe some rumors that Imus is headed back onto the airwaves somewhere - if not perhaps yet another new scandal or subpoena.

15. Bush at VT
I found it terribly disturbing for * to show up expressing his "deep" symathy for the student and families, etc. This is for 32+ people shot on campus. I have never heard a single statement from * about 3600 US soldiers dead, 10's or 100's of thousand Iragi's, etc. that have died in 'HIS' war, brought about because he lied to:
many of his own staff
congress
the UN
our allies
the American people, etc. etc. etc.....
If you listened, his 'speach' sounded good - this means he had NO input into its writting. If he had written or ad libed that, it wouldn't have may any sense at all. I was having my car serviced during his speach and I had to get up and leave the customer lounge - I couldn't take it.
And, being in FL (for another week), I didn't want to start a real fight, assuming the rest of the customers were probably repubs. Well, back to VA in another week were the dems are gaining ground all the time.

The Republican Media Machine is cranking it up once again. Think anyone will compare it to his response to Katrina? I believe we're through with him and with the media as it exists now, too.

20. Gross.

Really gross.

Really, really, really gross. I won't watch it. And, if this country doesn't react to outrage to this blatant political pandering, man, we really are truly lost.

Did I say gross?

23. If he's so serious about the dead, let him show our troops' coffins,
and spend even a nanosecond of coverage on their heroic lives that have been lost because of him.
They have given their lives by choice, not being the victims of some random act of a madman, except that they were victims of madman B* himself. I have seen coverage of these deceased college students that has surpassed anything that I've seen about these brave young men and women who have given their lives for freedom. B* galls me to the very core of my being.
