The 2010 Olympic medal design
Edited on Sun Oct-18-09 05:47 AM by miyazaki
These were revealed a few days ago. From what I read most peeps seem to like it.
The design is sort of unsettling to me. I feel I want to squash the ripples in it
and make it flat. It's like a warped cd or record, or a potato chip. It's like the
petrified cow shit my brother would pick up and chase me around my Grandpa's pasture
with.

7. I think the winners will like them anyway
The medals at Lillehammer were also a bit unusual, being very little metal and mostly just stone. Athletes still seemed to want them, go figure.

:hi:

15. OK that's it.

I am not going to put one of those in my trophy case. Luckily, my high standards are all about aesthetics and not athletics.

17. WHO cares what the medals look like?
Edited on Sun Oct-18-09 09:40 AM by rd_kent
None of us are ever going to win one. We are NEVER going to have to be embarrassed to show it to friends and family. Why are we complaining about it?

I am SURE that all of the athletes that do win one will be EXUBERANT about it and what it looks like will not matter, because in the end, ITS AN OLYMPIC MEDAL!

I prefer them to the medals from the last couple rounds:

2006

2008

24. Are they "modeled" (or "inspired") from Natives art?
If they are, why complain?

Because some don't like native art?

Personally don't care about the "look" of things anyway, but man... grow up some.

Peace out!
