http://www.9news.com/news/article.aspx?storyid=125244&catid=339Larimer County Sheriff Jim Alderden indicated criminal charges probably will be filed against one or both of the parents whose son was said to be aboard a wayward balloon.
Alderden spoke to a gathering of reporters to announce "significant progress" in the investigation after a second round of interviews with the family.
The sheriff indicated the likely charges are misdemeanors and no one in the family will be arrested.
Alderden said, given the seriousness of the incident, he is consulting with the Federal Aviation Administration and other federal agencies regarding potential federal charges. http://www.denverpost.com/ci_13584589The Larimer County Sheriff's Office is drawing up search warrants and preparing charges against Richard Heene and the "balloon boy" family.
Officials made the announcement after Heene and his wife met with officials at the Larimer County Sheriff's headquarters for several hours Saturday.
Heene had left his home in a red minivan and drove to the sheriff's office in mid-afternoon. A couple of hours later, two other people, including a man wearing a shirt identifying him as a Larimer County sheriff's office victim advocate, arrived at the home, and the boy's mother, Mayumi Heene, left with a man and a woman who said they were with the sheriff's office.
The family's three boys stayed at the residence, apparently watched by sheriff or social service employees.
Both Heene and his wife were still at the sheriff's office as dusk fell.
