8. All of Amazon's new releases are $9.00
as they are in a price war with Walmart. Walmart is trying to capture a big share of the online book market and is forcing huge concessions from publishers. Huge concessions mean huge cuts somewhere. Either revenue to authors will go way down or less books will be published, or both. Sadly, we are seeing the Walmartization of our literary talent (Palin excluded, talent and her, never should appear in the same sentence).

22. It's cheap only because Amazon is in a price war with Walmart.
Walmart is selling best sellers for 9 bucks a book, and Amazon has to meet that price. Walmart is fighting to establish Walmart.com as the next Amazon.com and these prices are the first shot across the bow.

It has nothing to do with how Palin's tome is selling.

26. Walmart and Amazon are
having a book pricing war.

I'm not sure how long it will last or how many books it will end up encompassing.

All I can say is I hope it keeps up. I've got my eye on them for now.
