Any person voted out of congressional office should not be allowed to keep their congressional healthcare. According to CBS Nightly News individuals who are voted out of office still get to keep the many benefits they received while they were members of Congress. Considering these individuals were given this particular type of healthcare because they were in Congress it (the healthcare plan) should not transfer to when they leave Congress unless they leave after 20 or more years. In addition, members of Congress should have to pay more for their healthcare. According to one report the government pays for up to 75 percent of the premium. Members of Congress should have to pay for their premiums. Also, the taxpayers supposedly pay $2 million for additional services received by members of Congress. That $2 million figure should either be drastically cut or eliminated.
