His "power" is based on having so many radio listeners...a lie that has been perpetuated with no verifiable data. He claims 10 or 20 million listeners, yet this can't be documented and his syndicator, Permeier, admits it hasn't done any real research on this subject in years.

The only way to see how rushbo really does is to look at the individual stations ratings and compare them to other stations in the market and similar formats. The con game is that his show airs during middays...one of the least monitored dayparts and that has far less listeners than morning or afternoon drive...the places where the big money shows play. He's been placed on a lot of station, primarily since its cheaper to run his verbal diahrea than to hire and pay a local talent, thus stations have loved him cause he saves them money.

It's the saturation of his show...most on stations owned by either Cheap Channel, Cumulus and Citadel that account for a majority of his affiliates...all companies that now are facing major financial problems...trying to fight off bankruptcy. If there was a case for the reregulation of radio, it's the abuse of so many public licenses by these companies and the bile they air.
