WASHINGTON (AP) — Insurance companies aren't playing nice any more. Their dire message that health care legislation will drive up premiums for people who already have coverage comes as a warning shot at a crucial point in the debate, and threatens President Barack Obama's top domestic priority.

Democrats and their allies scrambled on Monday to knock down a new industry-funded study forecasting that Senate legislation, over time, will add thousands of dollars to the cost of a typical policy. "Distorted and flawed," said White House spokeswoman Linda Douglass. "Fundamentally dishonest," said AARP's senior policy strategist, John Rother. "A hatchet job," said a spokesman for Senate Finance Committee chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont.

So disgusting.

Edited to show the good folks at DU what bullshit you are spreading here:

snip...

In these thumbnails, three dominant themes of the Obama Administration emerge - fanatically uncompromising anti-capitalism, dangerous and blatant anti-Semitism, and the societal inculcation of dogmatic Leftist, Socialist "faith" through indoctrination of American school children beginning with the earliest ages - a practice instituted by Lenin in Communist Russia and now pounding its way into the American academic mainstream through the prolific efforts and influence of self-proclaimed Communist, Obama friend, and likely "autobiography" ghost writer, William Ayers, as well as Obama appointees like Charles Freeman and Kevin Jennings.

Make no mistake. These people are about Socialism, and they are about power. Their power.

8. Public option
Yet another reason a public option needs to be a integral part of any HC reform bill.

And ins companies shouldnt have the opportunity to "warn" anybody. Legislate oversight and regulation concerning how much they can charge for premiums.

What they are trying to do is outright extortion now.

22. Official blackmail!
So, this should be good news! The big business insurances are finally showing their true color and confirming what we (at least the democrats) knew all along: they have no interest in health care. . .only in the health of their bank accounts!

If people didn't really believe that big business insurances were just in it for the money and would NEVER stop raising the rates. . .now they should face reality!

So. . .I think this "blackmail" by the insurances should turn in our favor, even in the favor of a government option. . .the only way to provide REAL competition to the blackmailing record of the big insurance industry.

I'm sure, if there are enough intelligent people left in America, this official blackmail should turn in favor of health care reform!

23. It is good news - according to the 2 Dems on Keith's show, they are royally pissed off
This may be the biggest backfire in political history. I think we're even more assured of a strong public option now that the insurance companies are attempting to blackmail the American people (what else it new  )

25. Yet the Democrats still don't realize that the Insurance Industry CANNOT be trusted.
This would be an EXCELLENT opportunity to put Single Payer or a STRONG (real) Public Option back on the table, and kick the Insurance Industry out of the room... No, the building.

Once again... They had their chance and BLEW IT!

When are the Democrats going to wake up, and tell the Insurance Industry to go to Hell, because the Insurance Industry does not give a shit about it's policy holders or this country?
