Here's an idea.....
...when dealing with the rapacious, predatory corporations that are determined to take every last dollar from us do the following:

1. Purchase or borrow a recording device that can be installed to your phone.
2. When said corporations call you or you have to call them to unfuck a claim announce that you are recording this conversation and that you will post the transcript on as many blogs and forums that you can find regardless of the outcome.
3. See what happens to their attitudes and/or how fast a supervisor comes on the line to fix your problem.
4. Finally, make good on your promise to post.

Have fun.

1. These recording devices are readily available...
I used one to record interviews for my 'zine. Easy to use, too. Available at any Radio Shack or other electronics store.

The FCC requires that all parties know they are being recorded, so announcing it at the onset is always best.

I hope we hear back on this most excellent idea!

2. Excellent Idea!
We always get the "This call may be recorded for quality purposes" thing, and it's totally legal for us to do it. I also tell telemarketers and survey calls "I'm sorry, I am kinda busy right now, can I have your home phone number and I'll call you at home and discuss this further?" I always hear a silence at the other end, and they usually come back with,"Well, I can't do that sir" or something like that, and I explain to them that they are calling me at home and bothering me, why can't I call them at home too? It hangs em right up and they rarely call back! Try it...
