Pelosi to GOP: "I'm in my place. I'm the Speaker of the House, ...
the first woman Speaker of the House, and I'm in my place because the House of Representatives voted me there."

Good for her!!!

Republicans don't have to worry about putting Nancy Pelosi "in her place," the Speaker told reporters Thursday: She's already there.
"I'm in my place," Pelosi said at her weekly press conference, responding for the first time to a Tuesday statement from the National Republican Congressional Committee that suggested she be muzzled for daring to voice House concerns about possible troop escalation in Afghanistan. "I'm the Speaker of the House, the first woman Speaker of the House and I'm in my place because the House of Representatives voted me there."

7. Good for her.
Maybe I shouldn't be but it is surprising that the NRCC would say something so offensive. I mean, the purpose of that organization is to get people elected to Congress right? :)

8. the sexism coming out of the reichwing is becoming more and more blatant each and every day
witness kyl's remarks, that idiot who said women shouldn't be allowed to vote--and the repukes who voted for rape yesterday.

like creepy-crawlies when a rock is turned over.

14. And they are so politically tone deaf they don't have a clue how it sounds to women
or men who support women's issues. Total pigs.

13. Welcome to DU! Absolutely good for her! Put THEM in THEIR place.
In. The. Minority. Over there in the far corner facing the wall with their dunce caps on.

As far as I'm concerned her reply still let 'em off easy.

Remember when GOP House members staged a walkout in the midst of some sort of deliberations last year? IMO she should have waited til they were all outside, scurrying toward the waiting cameras and microphones for an "impromptu" news conference outside on the Capitol steps. Then, once assured they'd all left, she should have called the Sergeant at Arms and instructed him to lock them out, then gavel the rest of the House back to order and REALLY get some business done. Probably would be most instructive to future pouting spoiled-sports not to stage some piss-ant protest walkout again. You just MIGHT get a smack on the ass on the way out.
