To Save Money, Irish School Asks Kids to Bring Their Own Toilet Paper
A primary school in Ireland is asking parents to pack something extra in their children's school back packs — a roll of toilet paper.

A sign of the tough economic times, the school in the southern county of Cork is trying to cut back on its spending and save a little, according to Reuters.

"The letter was sent out just as a way of balancing books here in the school and not intended as a demand," Reuters quoted Catherine O'Neill, principal at St. John's Girls National School.

O'Neill said parents are responding well to the school's request.

"I've done a quick tour of the classrooms this morning and I'd say at least half the pupils have brought them (toilet rolls) in," she told an Irish news agency.

2. Our school requests that the kids bring kleenex
"One box of tissue" is actually on the school supply list for the beginning of the year. And parents get requests for additional boxes throughout the year. I would send TP if the school asked for it.

4. Yeah, our school does that too.
I just learned from my daughter in high school, that they were told in Chemistry that they have 3 options for notes - print them out at home (he has a web site), copy them word for word down in class, or pay $.25 per sheet and he'll provide you with a photocopy. The school is not restricting the teachers on their numbers of copies, but is having the teachers provide their own paper FOR those copies.

Both kids had to supply 2 boxes of kleenex, 1 squirt bottle of soap and one of hand sanitizer, 4 tennis balls (for the chair legs), and a box of snacks each marking period (enough to feed 36 kids). Those were above and beyond the regular supplies.
