In case they somehow manage to screw it up and blow half the moon straight to a collision course with us? I have a few last sins I'd like to commit.

Go ahead and embellish those sins. Hell is full of republicans right now and they're not taking democrats until they can make some room. I have it on good authority that St. Peter is a card carrying progressive!

8. okay, I can understand being facetious, but ...
I don't think we have enough ability to throw enough mass at the Moon (or nuclear blasts) to do any real damage ...

even with the freeptards who, a few years back, used feet instead of meters on that Mars landing ...
