1. I think she could have been much tougher on him
She let him skate on the 50k a year on minimum wage comment.

4. I was worried about that too.
This guy is a fucking sleaze ball.

She was gracious and he got some lies by her.

6. She'll come back and issue corrections tomorrow, like she did for Unca Pat
But, overall, I think it's a mistake for her to "host" these rabid corporatists. She needs to be the opposition guest on somebody else's show. Then she can destroy them without looking like a jerk.

9. Well anyone who lives in this reality, knows that ain't true.
Unless someone on this board makes 50k and is on food stamps. If so, step up and be known.

11. I just worked it out (with some slight rounding)
Current Federal minimum wage is $7.25

$50,000 / $7.25 = 6896.55 credited hours for the year

6896.55 hours / 52 weeks = 132.625 credited hours per week

132.625 credited hours - 40 hours straight time = 92.625 credited overtime hours

92.625 credited overtime hours / 1.5 for time-and-a-half-overtime = 61.75 overtime hours worked

61.75 overtime hours + 40 straight-time hours = 101.75 hours work week

Which means if someone worked:

5 days/week ==> average work day 20 hours, 21 min
6 days/week ==> average work day 17 hours
7 days/week ==> average work day 16.5 hours

And this lying sack of crap was claiming that $50k was the average? How does someone earn more: work 32 hours a day, nine days a week?

2. I don't think it was "winning" that Rachel was aiming for..
she won when she informed her viewers what he is all about, and that he is "informing" the public what his sponsors want him to. He has the corporate agenda in mind, not what's good for the consumer.

5. You think that's what most viewers got? (I got that, but he looked the part too)
He has a vocal cadence and confidence in lying that is frighteningly persuasive.

7. I love Rachel to death, but when she gets mad she stutters.
And stuttering distracts from her points. That said, I hate to offer any criticism because I admire her so much and she is by far one of the best debaters we have on our side. Even with her mind getting ahead of her mouth a few times tonight she did wonderfully. She is so articulate and poised she most always comes out sounding better than her opponent. Berman is, IMO, a sociopath.

13. I believe your point about Berman.
In noticed the stuttering. She needs to work with someone about controlling the anger.

16. I never noticed that
She always seemed level-headed and cool when having the opposition as a guest. In fact it's my favorite trait she has because it's so refreshing when you have angry shouters working for Fox.

I didn't see this interview and if she did angry it's certainly not enough of a problem she needs help controlling. I've seen her interview all types of 'pukes and she was very level-headed.

8. Rachel. The snake oil salesman sounded like an arrogant ass with a lot to hide.
I didn't think there was any question that she won.

12. She was confidenet and poised. He was a weasel.
She didn't drop kick him out of the ring. Rather, she just let him slide out on his own
momentum. As the interview went on, he seemed smaller and smaller. She's one tough cookie.
This guy is about as bad as they get.

21. Right
And she scored points - like pointing out that he starts these web campaigns then raises money
on the basis of that with the supporters. He said at one point that it costs nothing to set up
a web site, which is true. So we get to conclude that he risks nothing to make a lot. Sounds like
a con game to me. This tarnished his assertion that he starts these campaigns because he believes
in the cause. She was very good indeed.

20. Rachel will attract more of those on the 'other side' with that kind of behavior- which is good
Edited on Wed Oct-07-09 05:34 PM by Beaverhausen
it's good for her to have those on the 'wrong' side of things on her show so she can expose them.

She does it so nicely, I don't think they realize what she is doing.

22. I think the does too
I wondered why this guy would come on but her demeanor is so honest but respectful, who could refuse.

When she has to be tough, as with Ridge, she does that well to.

She's my all time favorite network news analyst and reporter.

Clearly a liar but anyone that wanted to buy his crap would.
