My grandkids music teacher was killed in a car crash yesterday..
I learned last night when they told me about it, apparently her husband was driving and they slid off a wet road into a tree.

This morning I made a sympathy card for them to take to school so that it can be sent to the family, I understand the husband is still in serious condition in the hospital.

The family has a two year old little boy too, they were on the way to pick him up when they crashed.

Hug your loved ones whenever you get the chance because you never know when they are going away never to be seen again. :grouphug:

1. What a terrible loss. My heartfelt condolences to the family.
 may she rest in peace.
I know that incredible sting of such an unexpected loss. Years ago, I said goodbye to a wonderful co-worker who had been happily planned a weekend camping trip for months. She even brought her dog to work with her so they could depart at the end of the day. Unbelievable to come to work on Monday to find out she and her beautiful pet died in a head-on collision on the way. Since then the fleetingness of life has never left my consciousness.
I wish all of us Safe journeys.

2. Thank you..
And I should have added in my OP that you never know when *you* are going away never to be seen again either.

Just illustrates our bias against thinking of our own mortality.

FWIW, my grandkids are 6,7 and 9 and they all go to the same elementary school.

4. How sad! Must have been a young woman, to have a two year old.
You just never know, as you say. And this time of year, I tend to have sad, morbid thoughts anyway, as the days get shorter and darker and the leaves fall. Seems like the ghosts are all around.

5. Sorry to hear. Glad this wasn't one of those "she died cause she couldn't afford insurance" stories.

6. I"m so sorry--condolences to the family indeed.
What a terrible thing.

I never part company with my family members even on the phone without an "I love you." The one thing that gives me comfort about my mother's sudden death, two states away from me, is that I talked to her on the phone the day before, and of course we said we loved each other. Because we always said it.

How many of those 9/11 phone calls were pretty much devoted to saying nothing else...

7. Tell me about tragedy.
In Orlando there is a case which just turns my stomach everytime there is an update. There was a carwash fund raiser for a soccer club and as the day unwound, one of the soccer players wanted her car washed. She went to drive it in close to the hoses and her foot slipped and hit the gas pedal. The car lurched forward, pinning one of her teammates against a wall.

The girl who was hit was driven to the hospital, and, there, was put into a coma. A leg had to be removed and they're fighting to save the other leg. When she woke up from the coma, the first thing she wanted to know was how soon before she could run again.

Seventeen or eighteen year old girl and in one second, her entire life has taken another turn.
