US troops had long stopped insuring any role in the functioning of the French state . They stayed there, until France asked them to leave.

4. Please do not bring up any facts
They only confuse people. Besides my Dad who was an officer in the navy got posted to Paris for about
2 months in either the late 40s or early 50s .... he told me it was great duty.

6. U.S. troops didn't try to tell France what kind of government it should have,
nor were their French people trying to kill American soldiers on a daily basis.

Did you know that not one American soldiers was killed by Japanese guerrillas (actually, there were no Japanese guerrillas) during the entire seven-year occupation of Japan?
