Pete Seeger Headlines Health Care For All Rally Today in NY *Update: Teabaggers En Route*

By Gustav Wynn

-SEE UPDATE I BELOW: Pro-Industry ads placed on official rally page!*
-SEE UPDATE II BELOW: TeaParty group smears Seeger, plans to attend rally**

A number of actual grass roots organizations have joined forces to organize the Health Care For All Rally in Nyack, NY Sunday Oct. 4th starting at 4:30pm featuring music, speakers and outreach.

Nyack Memorial Park at 53 Piermont Ave. in Nyack, NY will be the venue for an event advocating for the understanding of health care as a human right and exposure of the indecencies of the for-profit health insurance industry.

Legendary folk singer Pete Seeger will be there armed with his banjo at age 90, as will Grammy Award winning singer-songwiter Tom Chapin and songsmith Emory Joseph who has collaborated with Odetta, Bonnie Raitt and Wavy Gravy...

**UPDATE 2-- A "Tea Party" group from White Plains has announced intentions to gather a large group of "Patriots" to stand against the President and the 90 year old Seeger, who they call an "unrepentant 60's commie". Bringing signs and flags, they intend to "ensure the American side of the debate is heard" since "they are likely to have media coverage that we never get."...

1. Pete Seeger fans have lots of experience
with protests. They'll make the baggers look like amateurs.

3. I am thinking this could prove to be a somewhat ill-advised move on
the part of the teabaggers. Aren't Seeger and his entourage and fans pretty much fire-breathing liberal activists, and not spineless centrists afraid of a fight???

I can't wait to hear how badly their get their asses handed to them.

4. Seeger will subdue them all with his picking hand...
All that frailing and clawhammer banjo playing has made his picking hand into a lethal weapon. :bounce:

7. The only thing Seeger has ever run away from
Edited on Sun Oct-04-09 01:27 PM by XemaSab
is Bob Dylan with an electric guitar.

If Dylan stays home, Seeger's got this one 100%.

5. I love Pete Seeger!

Way back in 1961, I learned to play the banjo from his 1948 book. It wasn't until the mid-60s that I learned Scruggs-style finger picking. That banjo playing served me well through the early to mid 60s. In those days, Those skillz attracted some amazing people.

Oddly, I've never had an opportunity to see Seeger perform. My loss. He'll make short work of the three teabaggers who show up with their porta-potty on a trailer behind their pickemup truck.

6. I had the great honor of seeing Pete and Arlo perform together,
many a year ago when they had a tour together.

It was outstanding, to say the least.

I love Pete Seeger; he is a national treasure and anyone that says otherwise better shove off.

9. Look up Peekskill Riots and tell me Pete Seeger is scared of any old teabaggers
Edited on Sun Oct-04-09 01:33 PM by Generic Other
I put my money on Seeger even at 90. That banjo kills fascists! I cannot believe that a bunch wussy teabaggers are gonna attack a 90 year-old man in their rush to extinction! Christ on a trailer hitch!!

11. He's actually a repentant 30's commie
but since when do right-wingers know history?

12. "Patients First, a project of Americans for Prosperity"
I'll have to call the local walk in clinic which has been using the business name "Patients First for over 20 years and ask them if they are aligned with this political group or have given permission for them to use that name. I am not sure of the owner's political point of view, but I know he is astute enough to not want to give up any of his rights to his business name.
