19. The worst terrorist attack on American soil was under Bush's watch

6. Why don't they come here now?
Edited on Mon Apr-16-07 06:24 AM by Theduckno2
After all, there are about 300,000? personnel in Iraq and they are in fortified compounds or riding in armoured vehicles.

Meanwhile, there are close to 300 million easy targets here in the U.S. riding around in SUVs.

The Administration is forever complaining about Syria being a transit point for foreign jihadis attempting to enter Iraq.

Why doesn't the door seem to swing the other way now, with those jihadis leaving Iraq via Syria Destination USA?

edit: to avoid stating my estimate (300,000?) as a fact and spelling.

8. The whole "follow us home" meme is idiotic.
As you rightly point out, why will the bad guys wait till we leave to suddenly come here and blow up a mall in Baltimore? (Don't they want us to leave?)

I guess the idea is that American troops are forming a line of scrimmage in Iraq that no terrorist, even those in other countries like the Philippines, can break through to get to America. If we leave Iraq, though, terrorists worldwide suddenly will all be free to head to Baltimore.

The Loyal Bushies make a big deal out of the fact that we have had no new 9/11s as demonstrating that Our Great Leader is protecting us. Why doesn't the fact that not one single Iraqi Sunni or Shiite has committed a terrorist attack in America after over four years of continuous war there prove that they are not going to "follow us home"?

It's such a stupid thing to say. I am so ashamed of my fellow Americans for falling for it at the usual 30% rate.

10. Here's an analogy.
You send all the fire trucks and firefighting equipment in town to the next town over, leaving your town unprotected. If someone complains, you say "but if we bring back the fire trucks, the fires will follow them here and the whole town will burn down, so we had better leave the trucks over there so we'll be safe."

Does this make any sense to anybody anwhere?

7. I don't know that there is anything you can say. People who
still believe that all of the terrorists are tied up in the fighting in Iraq and that they have no one to spare to strike at the U.S. are delusional. These are the same people who think Bush is keeping them safe.

12. ALL the terrorists are in Iraq.
And every single one of them would suddenly appear in Springfield, (your state here) the next day.

And the tooth fairy brings you money.

11. I look at it this way...We have our own Home Grown Terrorists...
and can't seem to deal w/them, how can we be expected to deal w/people in a foreign nation when we have trouble right here?

Let me clarify this a bit. We have drug dealers and gang members terrorizing communities; when have the KKK and the neo-nazi's waiting for a chance to make a play; we have people in this nation that are so paranoid and delusional, they are more than willing to commit acts that the majority of us would consider terroristic. The list goes on, and many of the groups out there aren't even known by me or average people like me. I have no idea how many groups, made in America, are out there that are more than willing to create a real problem for the citizens of this nation.

The notion that there will be a "D-Day" when terrorists will storm the beaches is absurd. Could you imagine this nation retreating from something like that? There indeed may be future attacks on US soil, but it will be more in the Timothy McVeigh, (homegrown terrorist), style. I'm in Nebraska, nothing would delight my neighbors more than fighting the "terrorists" here on American soil. They've been itching to use their shotguns and high powered rifles on things other than varmints and pheasants. The rest of the nation would rise up if they came here.

The biggest problem we face, is the situation in the ME escalating into something no one wants, nuclear strikes, or extreme escalation in ground warfare, like invading Iran.

If we could deal w/the homegrown terrorists, we'd be better off at dealing w/external threats of terrorism.

13. Terrorist are pretty much any place they want to be.
It is how people who are zealots, with out power, may make a statement. We had a mad bomber that did it for years and a kid from the army that was into it. We can count on it. Both these were born right here by the way.
