Harper makes donut run
Source: Steven Chase

Prime Minister Stephen Harper, travelling in the United States this week, will be a no-show during U.S. President Barack Obama's address to the United Nations General Assembly on Wednesday morning.

The White House press office says Mr. Obama's speech starts at 9:15 a.m., but the Prime Minister's Office says Mr. Harper is scheduled to be back in Canada for an event in Oakville, Ont, at 11:30 a.m.

The reason? Mr. Harper's making a stop at something called the Tim Hortons Innovation Centre.

That's right. The coffee-and-donut heavweight apparently has a research and development arm. Presumably they're responsible for such breakthroughs as the Smile Cookie.

2. I was so happy when they opened up
in Meriden Connecticut. When it's my turn to bring snacks for a meeting everyone knows it's going to be Tim Horton's.

3. Mr. Harper is not someone whose absence greatly resounds anywhere.
I am optimistic that the United Nations will muddle through somehow without him.

8. Dear Democratic Underground and all of sensible America...
I am sorry Stephen Harper is our Prime Minister.

Please forgive us Canadians, for we know not what we do.

At least 38 percent of so of us don't...which is about the percentage of the vote Harper gets when he wins minority governments thanks to a fractured left of centre movement in this country.

Sigh.

Sorry, really.

11. it's not your fault there just wasn't a serious liberal challenger with charisma to challenge him
With the exception of the radical liberal third party it's like your liberals are a bunch of John Kerrys devoid of any emotion but things will get better.

12. Harper, pathetic as he is, I think requires only about one hundredth of
the apology the previous resident of our White House did.

Apology accepted, and let me take this moment to mention how ashamed we all are to have had a certifiably psychotic moron occupy our government for eight long years.

May your relatively benign wart be removed relatively soon!

10. Harper's a Canadian Republican, when you really look at him
Thus, he has nothing but disdain for the United Nations.
