Corporations arenít people yet
http://www.boston.com/bostonglobe/editorial_opinion/edi... /

IF A hearing in a campaign-finance case earlier this month is any indication, Chief Justice John Robertsís Supreme Court is ready to give corporations far more power to influence the political system. That corporate interests already have too much muscle has rarely been clearer: Even under current finance restrictions, health care industry groups are pouring millions of dollars into congressional campaigns, in the hope of thwarting reforms that might constrain their members.

2. Corporate Personhood Would be an Improvement over What we Have Now
Edited on Tue Sep-22-09 05:53 PM by AndyTiedye
People here say they want to end "corporate personhood",
but "corporate personhood" would be an improvemnt over the current system.

As it is now,

Corporations never die (except by going bankrupt), so they never pay inheritance taxes,
which are the only taxes that capture non-real-estate principal. All other taxes tax
income or consumption.

Corporations get to write off all sorts of expenses that individuals don't.

Corporations only suffer minor fines if they break the law.
People who break the law may go to prison, or even face the death penalty.
