1. How would you do that?
Edited on Tue Sep-22-09 01:04 PM by imdjh
Just unlock the doors? Have you ever seen/smelled the inside of a house that has been used by crackheads for a month?

2. Are all homeless people crackheads?
Would crackheads use the plumbing if it were operational?

Are we our brother's keeper or does our responsibility end when we step over him instead of on him?

3. No compassion from a turnip
I'm afraid if you try to squeeze some compassion from him, you won't get blood, just turnip juice.

7. I've done that, have you?
I let a homeless man stay in my guest house for a while, in exchange for keeping an eye on the place while I was away and doing odd jobs. It gave me an insight into how and why people become homeless, and they need FAR more help from society that they are getting. This particular individual was actually eligible for Social Security disability, but no one had ever helped him apply for benefits, until I did.

17. That's not relevant to the OP.
You are free to offer property that you own to the homeless. The properties in the cartoon are the private property of others. They are not a community resource.

19. Weasel, weasel, weasel out
I call you on your bullshit, and all you offer is a poor excuse. That's pretty weak. You offer nothing helpful to explain why one problem (all the vacant property) cannot be used to solve another problem (lots of homeless people). Well, I guess if Republicans like you hang around here enough, you might pick up a something, maybe by osmosis if not by direct examination.

He also showed no compassion when LA was struck by wild fires. In fact he seemed gleeful.

5. You know
I think we should work on and fix what is wrong that make a person homeless to begin with, then we wouldn't have to worry what to do with them after they're homeless. Remember any of us could be right there in that boat with the homeless with the policies we're living under today, any of us could be.

4. Do the homeless school children stink?
How about the young homeless women that may be pregnant...stinko too? Where should they be housed. I guess they don't deserve to live indoors or have health care. Really we are all one disease from being homeless, we need to work on understanding that.

10. If they are crackheads, they might.
Here's the sequence for you:

Cartoon shows a person passed out on the sidewalk. Not a person camping out under a freeway and trying to hold it together. A person passed out on the sidewalk.

I have never seen a family passed out on the sidewalk. Have you?

Then I make a comment about what a house smells like after crackheads have been in there for a month. Guess what? It's awful. They will shit right on the floor next to where they smoke crack out of a soda can. Did I say anything about homeless families? No. I said crackheads.

Guess what? Crackheads get into shit, and ruin it. Your stuff, their stuff, it doesn't matter. They get into it.

You know what happens if you have rules about alcohol and drugs in a homeless camp? Hardly anyone uses it.

We have a homeless camp here in St Pete- and hardly anyone used it because it had rules.

I should have simply said, "Ah isn't that sweet. He's concerned about the homeless." like a lot of people do around here. But concern which makes no sense, or calls to action which make no sense is nothing more than bullshit. It's not sweet, unless you're five. You want cold? Go to a 12 step meeting some time.

Not very progressive... are you sure you're in the right discussion forum?

I think your posts stink, quite frankly, and should be homeless.

12. Glen Beck and Limbaugh justify their hatred too
I think you're lying when you say no one will stay at homeless shelters if there are rules. That's pure rationalization based on lies to justify your spew.

13. More words than your last post, just as ignorant.
Edited on Tue Sep-22-09 02:30 PM by Forkboy
A person passed out on the sidewalk.

Maybe they're just sleeping? You assume passed out because it fits your ignorant narrative that you've developed in your head about homeless people.

I have never seen a family passed out on the sidewalk. Have you?

Yes, I've seen entire families homeless and on the sidewalks. Again, you inject passed out because it's fits your narrative. Rush does the same thing when he talks about the homeless. You're in swell company.

Then I make a comment about what a house smells like after crackheads have been in there for a month.

You sound like a racist who hates black people because one beat him up. Why the assumption that homeless people are crackheads? Because, again, it fits your narrative to justify your ignorance.

You know what happens if you have rules about alcohol and drugs in a homeless camp? Hardly anyone uses it.

Not around here. Homeless shelters are chock full, and they have rules.

You want cold? Go to a 12 step meeting some time.

Don't have to go anywhere. You're providing it for us.

16. No problem with that.
My objection was to the idea that property which is empty is somehow up for the taking or being misused because it isn't offered to the homeless.
If public or private charities can acquire property without force, and use it responsibly for the good of the homeless, there is no problem with that.

20. I wasn't aware anyone was suggesting the properties be taken by force.
Its' telling that you immediately associated homeless with crackhead. Your bias is showing.
