13. Yeah, President Obama is playing it quite nicely
Not everybody on the team is the quarterback, and a team full of quarterbacks wouldn't be much good. Someone's got to be on the line, slugging it out with the big uglies on the other side. President Carter says there's some racism involved in the criticism of President Obama (yeah, I like typing "President Obama"; what of it?). Everyone dithers about what could Carter possibly mean? Some of my best friends are . . . Meanwhile, President Obama declines to engage the subject and presses ahead with what he has to do.
That doesn't mean that Carter or any of the other folks along the line aren't doing real work; it just means that they have their own duties to attend to. I don't always agree with everyone working to advance progressive causes, and I know for a fact that my own personal philosophy doesn't jibe with the mudslinging tactics. But I'm very reluctant to interfere with what someone else is doing.
20. As ridiculous as "We must make things fair for the private insurers."
That has galled me time and again.
Let's make things fair for the industry that raised its premiums by over 100% during the past decade, dropped millions more from coverage and continued bankrupting millions who thought they had good coverage.
