It seems every time I turn around someone is trying to sew some divisive ass bullshit......so here are a few pointers for all you who have trouble getting it. ....pardon me if I borrow a few other's arguments without taking time to dig up who said it first but here it goes.
1) The rightwing sites are fucking lying about Obama. It's one thing to post a bit of it from time to time in the vein of "look at what these bastards are saying." it's a totally other thing to take what is said by these conservative shit heads at face value and to try to use it to stoke anti-Obama feeling here. (This isn't aimed at EVERY criticism, just the really inflammatory BS from conservative sources, I mean, fucking really people, buy a clue, you're either stupid or you think we are)
2) You don't have to like watching gay sex to care deeply about gay equality. I guarantee you get a room full of gay guys and put a straight porn on, just about everyone there is going to be "Ewwww." It's just how we are wired, we are born with a predilection for a particular sex, (in some cases both) and anything really different from that predilection is going to be a turn off. To make people feel like they are homophobes for being grossed out by gay sex is just unfair and divisive and IS JUST ONE MORE WAY TO DRIVE WEDGES BETWEEN GAYS AND STRAIGHTS -WHICH TO ME SOUNDS LIKE AN ANTI-GAY AGENDA -WHICH REALLY MAKES ME WONDER ABOUT THE MOTIVES OF THOSE WHO PUSH THE DIVISIVENESS SO HARD.
3) DEFEATISM IS FOR FUCKING LOSERS. I think most people here, no matter how gloomy it may look, WILL FIGHT TO THE BITTER FUCKING END, for what they think is right. "I have never needed the promise of victory to spur me on to fight." I just can't help but think sometimes the relentless, hopeless negativity of certain people is not so much honest wrongheadedness, but really fucking cynical trolling. I may agree with DK on just about everything policy wise, but his self-agrandizing proclamations of doom for PO are childish, selfish, cowardly and stupid -and any amplification by DUers of that stupid, defeatist message MAKES IT FUCKING HARDER TO GET PO!!!!!!
4) For those stubborn DUers who are CERTAIN that Obama is a corporate tool, please review Justice Sotomayor's recent comments about corporate personhood. Please do explain why the so-called corporate toadie put in place a Supreme Court Justice who almost immediately upon entering the court attacks Corporate America's most critical sources of power -corporate personhood? Do I think Obama is the Messiah and will I make lame excuses for everything he does that falls short? -no, but he's one of the most anti-corporate presidents we've had in a long time. He's trying to tackle the big issues when it would be easier to coast, pardon me that -as of yet- I've seen enough positive signs to not be totally discouraged about him. I think a lot of people who are saying they are discouraged now probably are believing a lot of the BS that's been going around -or already made up their mind about him a while ago for reasons that have little to do with his actual performance as executive.
so hopefully this pisses a lot of people off
