I'm actually glad I didn't. Bob did a very good job interviewing Unka Dick. He washe usual prefessional self, but he asked the Dick a lot of very straight forward questions, and IMO made Cheney look like a poor excuse for a VP!

His closing statement was great!

He said when he was a boy everyone knew the Country was at war. We all had a neighbor, relative or friendwho wasfighting in that war. Taxes were high, food was rationed, and every day something happened to remind everyone we were at war. NOW, if we don't read the paper and don't watch the news, most of us would never know we're fighting a war. If we ever go to war, shouldn't we ALL have to realize WE ARE AT WAR!

1. You can't have eternal war if people notice it lasting for eternity.

To do so,

you have to spend money you don't have to hide it from the taxpayers.
you have to hide the reporting on casualties.
you have to encourage shopping rather than sacrifice.
you have to reduce the size of the military by using private mercenaries and contractors.
you have to bring in people from other countries to do the logistics work (cafeteria/laundry/etc).
you have to dehumanize your enemy so that your citizens don't really check up on what's happening.

Etc.
